“!Women Art Revolution”

Film screening

Through intimate interviews, art, and rarely seen archival film and video footage, !Women Art Revolution (2012)︎︎︎ by Lynn Hershman Leeson reveals how the Feminist Art Movement fused free speech and politics into an art that radically transformed the art and culture of our times. It explores the slow but steady rise of the women's art community, which first blossomed when the Feminist Movement exploded in the United States during the 1960s and 1970s, thereby increasing cultural awareness of women artists, including the stories of activists such as the Guerrilla Girls and performance artists like Yoko Ono and Judy Chicago. The documentary also touches on the gender politics of the art world.
